About Asilia Impact

A Tanzanian firm that builds communication and MEL systems for organisations working for nature and people.

Why we exist

In East Africa, a lot of excellent conservation and livelihoods work goes underfunded. Usually the work is strong. The problem is that results are hard to find, hard to check and hard to explain to people outside the field.

Fixing that takes more than a campaign. It takes a measurement system that produces reliable evidence, a communication system that carries it to the right people, and a team that can run both. That is what we build.

Asilia is Swahili for origin or authenticity. The idea is that the evidence and the story should both come from the source.

Founder

Javis Bashabula leads Brand Impact Communications and Knowledge Management at Action For Ocean, a Tanzanian marine conservation organisation. There he built the MEAL framework, theory of change, knowledge repository and brand across four coastal seascapes: Tanga, Kilwa, Mtwara and Dar es Salaam.

He also designs the software behind that work, including data systems now used by several organisations. Asilia Impact is how he offers the same approach to others.

How we work

Systems you own. Everything we build is handed over with training, so it keeps running when the engagement ends.

Measurement and communication together. The indicators that track your outcomes also feed your stories and reports, so nothing is collected twice.

Honest numbers. We will not inflate results to win a grant. Funders notice, and so do communities.

Work with us

Most engagements start with a three-week Check.
